about
When I started songwriting, I never envisioned putting out this kind of song. But I guess I also never envisioned the headlines we've had for the past weeks. month. years.
Events of the June 10-12th weekend side-swerved me into a cave — this song was written that weekend and I found the last two weeks consumed with finishing the recording.
Note: I wanted to make this song available asap but am not yet sure what to do with possible proceeds tbh. Am looking into organizations that promote understanding, justice and assistance in times of tragedy.

ONE DAY (DEAR WORLD) LYRICS
dear world,
i would like, just for a day,
just for a day,
for the violence to be assuaged
where a fist doesn't feel a face
we're not looking for bones to break
where what you want doesn't violate
you can run in your neighborhood marathon race
say, get on a bus or a plane, subway, take public transportation
without something that would detonate
a day without brutality
in the courts or on the streets
and anyone can wear a hoodie (huh)
dear world,
i would like, just for a day,
just for a day,
for the violence to be assuaged
we could watch a film in peace
attend class for that degree
meet in a church just to meet
and we'll dance in the club with whom we please
go to school to learn our abc's
get on a stage just to sing without being gunned down to our knees
dear world,
i would like, just for a day,
just for a day,
for the violence to be assuaged
and the people who've been taken away,
that day they could stay and here they'd stay
don't have to espouse love over hate
employ your hands endeavor to create
just find another way to say
what you need and why you rage
dear world,
*imagine*
i would like, just for a day,
*imagine*
just for a day
*all the people*
for the violence to be assuaged
dear world,
*imagine*
i would like, just for a day,
*imagine*
just for a day
*all the people*
for the violence to be assuaged
